Village Centre further update – January 2021

corona virus imageWith the announcement of Lockdown 3 it seems that the Centre may have to remain closed until at least mid-February. Sorry everyone, we will reopen as soon as Government regulations permit and if there are any updates we will post them here.

The vaccination programme is being rolled out in our area now, so hopefully there are better times to come.

Keep washing those hands and don’t forget to keep plenty of space between you and anyone you don’t actually live with. Let’s make Dersingham healthy and safe!

Village Centre Update – January 2021

corona virus imageSorry everybody, but once more we have had to close the Centre, as Norfolk is currently under Tier 4 restrictions. We will reopen as soon as Government regulations permit. Please note that, whether restrictions are lifted or not, we are postponing our January Community Friendship Lunch and our January Film Screening. These will take place in February, if possible.

Not the best of starts to the year, but we’re sure that it won’t be long before things will improve and we can welcome everybody back to the Centre. You may be interested to know that the Trustees offered the use of the Village Centre to the NHS as a vaccination venue but we were politely informed that they already have arrangements in place.

Keep washing those hands and don’t forget to keep plenty of space between you and anyone you don’t actually live with. Let’s make Dersingham healthy and safe!

Carol singers welcome Christmas

Christmas Greetings imageOur carol singalong on the evening of December 19th turned out to be a lovely event, complete with the ‘star of Bethlehem’ visible just above the horizon! The star is actually the great conjunction of the planets Jupiter and Saturn, which currently appear almost as one, all very exciting.

The music to accompany this spectacle of the night sky was provided by an excellent group of singers with keyboard accompaniment, organised by Village Centre Trustee David Collingham.  Naturally those assembled in the Centre car park were eager to add their own voices, so there were enthusiastic versions of many popular carols and Christmas songs. To fuel the singers there was mulled wine, mince pies and sausage rolls, provided by Centre volunteers.

All in all a great evening and we hope to repeat the event in a year’s time, when hopefully there will not have to be so much emphasis on social distancing.

Stay safe and well everybody. You can see some photos of the event below. Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year!

The Village Centre reopens with a festive lunch and carols

village centre logoWe are pleased to announce that the Centre will reopen immediately after the lockdown, with some of our regular classes starting again on Wednesday 2nd December. Following on from that we have a couple of special events lined up, to usher in the Christmas season.

On Tuesday 15th December we will be holding our Christmas Friendship Lunch which is always a popular event. Needless to say booking is essential, by phoning 01485 540644. Numbers must be strictly limited due to Covid-19 regulations, so please book early. The cost is £5 for two courses and tea or coffee.

Then, on Saturday 19th December, there is an opportunity to sing some carols, as everyone loves to do at this time of the year! Between 5 – 6pm there will be carol singing outside the Village Centre, to which all are welcome. This is a Covid-19 secure event so again social distancing must be observed at all times, but there will be some lovely festive music and refreshments will be available. Latest Covid-19 update – 1st November 2020

corona virus image

It is with regret that following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Saturday 31st October, the Dersingham Village Centre will be closed from Thursday 5th November until at least Wednesday 2nd December. Accordingly we are cancelling all bookings, both of regular users and our occasional hirers for the remainder of November.

We will of course keep a watchful eye on Government Advice, and if we are able to re-open sooner, we will do so; equally if the closure needs to be extended for longer, we will do so.

In the meantime keep washing those hands, stay safe, look after yourself and others. Let’s keep Dersingham well!

Our next cinema screening – Tuesday 27th October

Our regular monthly film nights continue and the next of these will be Judy, which is a touching account of the final years of one of the movie world’s greatest stars, Judy Garland (12A). Renée Zellweger stars in this not to be missed biopic.

The film will be shown on our usual last Tuesday in the month, the 27th October. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start to the film. tickets are £5, under 16s £3.

It is important for everyone to know that because of the current health situation there are some extra measures that we have to put in place for the film screening. Numbers attending will be strictly limited, consequently pre-booking is highly advisable. You should also be aware that face-coverings must be worn when in the Village Centre (except children 11 years or under). Please sanitise your hands when entering and leaving.

Most seating will be in socially distanced groups, around tables, in a designated café area where patrons may sit in groups of up to six people. In this area ONLY, face coverings may be removed when you are seated at your table. If you leave your table, for any reason, you must replace your face covering.

There may be other seating available, outside the café area, where face coverings must be worn at all times unless eating or drinking.

Refreshments will be via table service only.  Patrons should use the toilet nearest their seat. If using the main toilets off the east corridor there is a one-way system in operation.

To reserve seats, please telephone 01485 540644. Booking closes as soon as the permitted maximum number is reached or at the latest 4pm on the 27th October. Track and Trace information will be required.

Village Centre Update – 14th October 2020

corona virus image

We are pleased say that, at the current moment, the risk level in our local area is classed as “medium” which is in fact the lowest level that applies to any part of England. This means that we can continue to keep the Centre open and to welcome participants at many of our weekly exercise and dance groups and at our regular coffee mornings.
The Government has provided us with a poster which gives more information about what “medium risk” actually consists of.  Needless to say, we continue to assess our activities, events and bookings against the Government Guidance and we will issue further updates here when we are able to do so. In the meantime stay safe, look after yourself and others. Let’s keep Dersingham well!
