What we're fundraising for
The building has been constructed by the Dersingham Parish Council with the help of the Big Lottery and varoius other grants and Public Works loans. The equipping of the Centre, with tables and chairs, kitchen items, cups and saucers, audio and visual equipment etc is the responsibility of the Dersingham Village Centre Association, which has been tireless in its fundraising work.
So far over £15,000 has been raised, but now, even though the Centre is up and running, we need to redouble our fundraising efforts. We still need money for more tables and chairs and for more kitchen items. The building is a resource for the entire village and it needs your support. Make a donation, join our lottery, volunteer for jobs that need doing, in short please help us in any way that you can. There's more information below or you can get in touch via our Contact Form.
With help from local solicitors, an application was submitted to the Charity Commissioners to establish the Dersingham Village Centre Association charitable trust, who will have the overall responsibility for the long term future of the Centre. Although the Centre will be owned by the Dersingham Parish Council, it will be leased to the Trust at a nominal rent. In May 2018 our application for charitable status was granted and our charity number is 1178462.
How we're raising money
We have a rolling programme of fundraising events. Please help us by supporting them as much as you can!
- The Amazon Smile is a way that, if you buy anything from Amazon, you can contribute to our fundraising efforts at no cost to yourself. If you join Amazon's Smile programme they will contribute 0.5% of your purchase price to your nominated charity. Just be sure to nominate Dersingham Village Centre Association. To find out more and to sign up go to Smile.Amazon.co.uk
- Cinema nights take place in the new Centre, using our state-of-the-art equipment and large screen. The cinema shows recent but not brand new releases. Entry is £5 and profits from these events are going directly to the fund for the new Centre. There is a film each month and you can find out which one from posters around the village or from the News Blog on this site. You could help by training to be a projectionist, taking entrance ticket money, or serving refreshments.
- Donations to the Dersingham Village Centre fund are warmly welcomed. You can easily donate now using our PayPal Donate button, below. Or you can always send a cheque, which please make payable to Dersingham Village Centre Association. Mail your cheque to DVCA at the Village Centre, 83 Manor Rd, Dersingham, King's Lynn, PE31 6LN, or drop it into our post box at the Centre. If you make a donation you can Gift Aid it. Download the form here.
- The Dersingham Centre Lottery has been running for several years now, where members each pay a £5 monthly subscription to purchase a number. All numbers are entered into a monthly prize draw, with 30% of the sales being distributed as prizes. The remaining 70% of subscriptions goes to the Village Centre fund. If you would like to subscribe, you can pay by PayPal (debit and credit cards accepted). Or, you can pay yearly or quarterly by cash, cheque, direct credit or standing order. For immediate online subscription to the Lottery click the PayPal Subscribe button. For all other means of payment please pick up an application form from the Parish council office or download one from the link below. Prize draws take place at the beginning of each month and the winning ticket numbers are published in the Parish Office, in Village Voice magazine, on the News Blog on this website, and on our Facebook page.
