Funding the Village Centre

The building has been constructed by the Dersingham Parish Council with the help of the Big Lottery and various other grants and Public Works loans. The equipping of the Centre, with tables and chairs, saucepans, cutlery, cups and saucers, in fact almost everything, is the responsibility of the Dersingham Village Centre Association, which has been tireless in its fundraising work.

We have a rolling programme of making improvements to the Centre, its facilities and its equipment. The building is a resource for the entire village and we welcome your support. From time to time we run events at the Centre that are specifically intended as fundraisers, such as our ceilidh and casino nights, but most Centre events and hirings generate an income. This money is then used to cover the day to day running costs of the building, which are considerable, and it is also used to replace and add to the equipment contained in the building. For example, we have lately bought additional tables and chairs, improved the car park, provided an outdoor seating space and installed sound-dampening curtains at the doors of the main hall and the garden room.

To help us, the best thing that you can do is to support and attend events and activities in the Centre. Join a group or a class, come to a Village Cinema screening, attend a coffee morning or community lunch, or come to one of our special fundraising events. The Trustees of the Centre thank you for all your support in the past and look forward to your continuing help.

By the way we also need helpers too. There is more information about volunteering on our volunteers page.

More About Fundraising Events

Any event in the Village Centre that is organised and run directly by the Centre Trustees has a fundraising element to it. Some events are special ones that might be a one-off or only once or twice a year. For example, our casino nights, ceilidh barn dance, Dersingham Open Gardens, special dinners etc. Others occur regularly, such as our film screenings, community friendship lunches and the coffee club.

Whatever the event, if it's run directly by the Centre Trustees any profits will go into our funds which cover running costs, maintenance and improvements. So, if you can, please support these fundraisers, because not only will you be helping the Centre, you will enjoy them too!
