Village Voice Live – Tuesday 11th January

Happy New Year to everybody! Just a reminder that our first Village Voice Live talk of the New Year will be on Tuesday 11th January at 7.30pm in the main hall of the Centre.

The illustrated talk will be given by Jenny Hobson from the Friends of Horsey Seals and she will tell you all about these popular marine creatures. Admission costs £6 and we apologise that we have had to increase the price by £1 this year, due to rising costs, particularly energy. However, your ticket does get you a cup of tea, coffee or squash, a piece of cake and a raffle ticket with some excellent prizes to be won. Plus a fascinating talk, of course!

New Year’s Eve Disco – Latest Information

new year disco posterJust to update everybody, with the Government having committed to not changing Covid regulations before the New Year we are confident that the Disco & Supper can go ahead unless, of course, there is any sudden change on the part of the Government.

NHS Vaccine Passport and Lateral Flow Testing

For the safety of all attendees at the disco we shall be asking those who have the NHS vaccine passport to show it on entry to the hall. The passport is part of the NHS smartphone app, which is available free for both iPhone and Google Android phones. If you do not have the vaccine passport we would recommend that you take at least one lateral flow Covid test before attending. Covid testing kits are available from pharmacies and other outlets.

There will be other precautions taken at the event, to maximise ventilation and to reduce any risk of infection. With your cooperation we’re sure that it will be a safe and enjoyable evening!

Village Centre New Year Disco

new year disco posterWe’re looking forward to our New Year’s Eve supper and disco in just over a week’s time, but there are a few points that we should make. Ticket sales are now closed as we have reached the number that we feel is safe in the hall, given the current situation with the new Omicron variant of Covid. The progress of the virus is being closely monitored by the Government and it is possible that regulations could be introduced which impact on the event, so check here on our News Blog for the latest situation.

Village Centre hire charges

View of the Village CentreIt’s now over three years since the Centre opened and the Trustees felt that it was time that we reviewed the charges for hiring the various rooms in the building. At at time of rising inflation and particularly high energy prices you might expect that prices would be going up, but we have done our best to avoid that wherever possible. Only in the main hall will the hourly hiring rate increase, which is due to the cost of heating such a large space. We have had to cope with a 75% increase in the cost of energy supplied to the Centre, but fortunately, thanks to our solar panels and heat pumps the building is very energy efficient.

The cost of hiring the smaller rooms in the Centre will be either held at the current level or reduced, to encourage more use of the smaller spaces. Any changes will take effect from the 1st January 2022.

You can see all our hiring rates in the table on the Booking page of this website, but in brief the hourly rate for hiring the main hall will rise from £30 an hour to £34 (£17 for community groups). The Garden Room hire rate will be unchanged. The Loft hourly rate will reduce from £20 to £15 (7.50 per hour for community groups).

We are sure that all users of the hall will understand the reasons for these changes and, as always, we thank you all for your support.
