November Draw of the Village Centre Lottery

image of lottery drawFirstly, a big thank you to all those supporting our fundraising through the Village Centre Lottery. Every month there’s the chance to win a cash prize and to know that you are helping the Centre become an even better resource for the community.

There is much more that still needs to be done. More tables and chairs, improved audio-visual equipment, better kitchen facilities for our community lunches and other events, the list goes on.  A building like the Village Centre always needs something doing to it – redecorating, bumper strips to stop chairs damaging the walls, as soon as something gets ticked off the list, something else goes on the bottom!

So, please help us by continuing to support the Lottery and by joining if you haven’t already. All the information can be found on our website Fundraising page, where there’s a Subscribe button which let’s you set up an online payment of £5 per month. Or, there are links to a form which you can print off and post or take to the Centre. We really do need you!

Meanwhile, the most recent draw of Lottery prizewinners was made on Tuesday 5th November at our popular community lunch. Winners are as follows:

First prize, number 41 winning £29.25. Second prize number 29 winning £19.50 and third prize number 14 winning £9.75. Congratulations to the lucky prize winners. Subscribe to our Lottery and you could join those winners, plus you’ll be giving us a big helping hand. Thank you!

Shop Local at our Christmas Fair

Want to support the village community and shop local this Christmas?

A Christmas Market will be held in the Village Centre on Friday 6th December between 6pm – 9pm.  There will be 30+ stalls with a mixture of crafts and small local businesses selling a variety of gifts, decorations and cards. There will also be Christmas carols, refreshments and a bar to add to the festive atmosphere.

The pop up bar will be serving alcohol and mulled wine and the café will be serving hot drinks, snacks and cakes. All profits from these will be going towards the Village Hall fundraising.

Ceilidh Success!

ceilidh imageOur fund-raising Ceilidh and Barn Dance was held on the evening of Saturday 26th October and was a great success. Despite the rather damp weather, around 100 eager dancers gathered in the main hall of the Village Centre and enjoyed a great time with Ceilidh band Whirligig. During the evening, while the band took a break, a superb hot supper was served by the DVCA catering team.

Our thanks to all the volunteers who helped to make the event such a success. Setting up tables and chairs, cooking a meal, serving behind the bar and cleaning up afterwards, it all has to be done by our team of willing helpers. Which reminds me – we need to add to that team, so if you can help, please get in touch by sending an email to contact@dersinghamvillagecentre.org.uk

Whirligig have already been booked for our next Ceilidh on  Saturday 24th October 2020. Put that in your diary!
