On your own or just feeling a bit lonely on a Sunday afternoon? The Village Centre want to help, and we are introducing a two hour Sunday Social get-together on the second Sunday of each month.
There will be tea and cake, of course, and hopefully a few extras such as board games, cards, crafts etc. There may be some music too and there’s the chance to chat to others, if you wish.
Why not drop in, on Sunday 12th January, 2.00pm – 4.00pm. The cost is just £2.50 per person.
We wish all our users and everyone in the local community the happiest of times in 2020. Thank you for your support in 2019 and we look forward to seeing you at the Centre in the coming months. A very Happy New Year!
Just in case anyone is thinking of coming to our Ceilidh and Barn Dance this Saturday 26th October, please be aware that the event is now SOLD OUT! For all those who already have tickets we are looking forward to a great evening, see you then!
Our regular monthly Tea Dances continue to be popular, thanks to the efforts of dance tutor Peg who oversees the event. Whether you’re a veteran of the ballroom floor or just taking your first dance steps, you will be very welcome!
Tickets cost £5 on the door and include tea and cake. The next few dates coming up are Fridays 25th October, 29th November and 27th December.
The draw for the Village Centre Lottery was made today at our Community Lunch. The three lucky winners share the prize fund as follows:
1st Prize number 6 winning £30.00
2nd Prize number 29 winning £20
3rd Prize number 44 winning £10
A bit of a plea from the heart. Lottery subscriptions are diminishing, probably because people think that the Centre is up and running now and that nothing needs to be spent. However, we have a rolling programme of improvements and the purchase of new equipment. More tables and chairs, more kitchen cupboards, a better quality sound system for cinema screenings, these are just a few items that we need to raise money for. So please support our Lottery, it only costs £5 per month and you will be helping the Centre which is here for the benefit of the whole village. Information on how to join or renew a Lottery subscription can be found on our website DersinghamVillageCentre.org.uk/fundraising.html Thanks!
There are three prize winners each month in our Village Centre fundraising lottery and you might be one of them! But you have to be in it to win it, so if you’re not already subscribing to our fundraising Lottery, please go to the fundraising page on our website and sign up. It’s really important to keep the money rolling in, because there are still many additions and improvements that we want to make for the benefit of all users. Just in the last few weeks we have bought a new radio microphone, some additional staging and we are currently upgrading the window blinds to give a better experience at film screenings etc.
The August draw took place in the Centre on Tuesday 13th August, at the monthly Village Voice Live talk. The winning numbers were:
1st prize, number 19 winning £32.25
2nd prize, number 39 winning £21.50
3rd prize, number 22 winning £10.75

We have been honoured and absolutely delighted that Her Majesty the Queen made a private visit to Dersingham Village Centre on Friday 5th July, welcomed by flag-waving children from Dersingham Primary School. After being greeted by Sue Payne, a Centre Trustee and former Parish Council Chairman, and Coral Shepherd, current Chairman of the Parish Council, Her Majesty was shown around the Centre by Sue. Then David Collingham, Chairman of the Dersingham Village Centre Association, introduced the Queen to representatives of groups who use the Centre and who described the wide range of activities that take place. Finally, the Queen unveiled a plaque, behind which was a photograph of King George V who kindly donated the land for the original village hall back in 1911. On departure, Phoebe Ward presented the Queen with a posy.
Photographs of the occasion were taken by Jo Halpin Jones and you can see some of them here.
